Athletics Just Send 31 Athletes to SEA Games

INDONESIA UPDATED. The Executive Board of the Indonesian Athletics Association (PASI PB) will just sent 31 athletes to the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar from 11 to 22 December. This amount is different from the number of athletes that participated in the SEA Games 2011, namely 69.

"At that time (SEA Games 2011) it was our right to host, so it should use the opportunity as much as possible" said Vice Chairman of Development and Achievement PB PASI Paul Lay while with Tempo at Madya Stadium in Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Monday, 25 November 2013.

While at this time, with limited government funding and priorities on the medals, PB PASI must strictly select the athletes.

"If it does not exceed the limit of the SEA Games, yes, can not leave" said Paul. Limit he mean size limit record time, high jump and throw distance is adjusted to map the strength of the 2013 Games .

With a tight limit, says Paul, as a result there are only two new athletes that follow the 2013 Games, namely Ni Nyoman Kerni (sprinter) and Lusiana Satriani (sprinter). The rest are athletes that have followed the 2011 SEA Games.

The target of the medals was reduced, which is only six gold. In fact, in the 2011 SEA Games, athletics gained 13 gold , 12 silver , and 11 bronze.
