Surya Dharma, the chief of Golden Indonesia Program Task Force
(Satlak Prima) said the athletes' fee for South East Asia Sports
Tournament (SEA Games) 2013 have not been paid since July until August.
"Several major sport central organizations (PB) like kempo, badminton,
karate, athletics and others can still afford to cover the fee," he
said. "However, other smaller PBs cannot."
Surya said Satlak Prima is currently suffering from Rp60 billion
budget deficit. The deficit was caused by several factors, such as
Rupiah exchange value and cancellation at revenue post.
The late payment has forced Satlak Prima to re-assess the try-out plans in several sport branches. Surya Dharma said: "Our budget is insufficient, therefore try-out programs must be re-evaluated, or even called off."
In order to cope with the budget shortage, Satlak Prima has to cut
budget allocations in several posts and re-allocate athletes fee. This,
however, will have to await the agreement from Directorate General of
Budgeting at the Ministry of Finance, which is still processing the
revision.
