Athletes Must Go All Out to Win Gold Medals in Myanmar

National athletes selected for the 2013 Myanmar SEA Games must strive to make up for the 20 gold medals that the country had lost even before the start of the games.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said athletes in the Malaysian contingent for the Myanmar SEA Games must work extra hard to make up for the 20-gold medal deficit because the events that Malaysia had won gold in the previous edition, are not contested in Myanmar.

"We have lost 20 gold medals even before the start of the games because the events that Malaysia had won gold are not contested in Myanmar. However, that should not be an excuse to not go for as many gold medals as possible.

"Their must put up an excellent performance," he told reporters after Milo's Fuel For Champions campaign     initiated by Nestle Malaysia at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil, here, today.

Through the MILO Fuel for Champions campaign and as the official Nutritious Chocolate Malt beverage of the Malaysian Contingent for the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar, MILO calls upon the nation to support the Malaysian contingent as they strive to make Malaysia proud.

The Myanmar SEA Games will feature 34 sports but not track cycling, tenpin bowling, synchronized swimming and water ski through which Malaysia had won 20 gold medals in the 2011 SEA Games hosted by Indonesia.
