INDONESIA UPDATED.The SEA Games women’s football competition suffered its second
defection, with Indonesia confirming a long-held rumor that they will
not compete in the 27th SEA Games.
Indonesia was to compete in Group (B). With their withdrawal,
there are now two groups of three teams each. Group (B) consists of
Thailand, Laos and Malaysia, while Group (A) features Myanmar, Vietnam
and the Philippines.

Scheduling for the women’s competition has also taken a hit, with
the previous format of two games a day, now shifted to but a single
match per competition night at Mandalay’s MandalarThiri Stadium. For
fans thatpurchased tickets for the Indonesia–Myanmar match, the Myanmar
Football Federation will refund the cost of the ticket.
The decision by Indonesia to drop out of women’s football follows
an earlier cancellation by Timor-Leste. On the men’s side, the
Philippines also cancelled their participation in football ahead of the
2013 SEA Games.
