Indonesia declared Sunday it will be a force to be reckoned in
water polo at the 27th SEA Games with a 16‐2 win over Malaysia in the
day’s first match.
Fresh from a 30-1 drubbing of Myanmar yesterday, Indonesia look
likely to give two-time defending champions Singapore a run for the
gold.
In the second game Thailand matched Singapore almost gold for goal
through three quarters, Singapore holding a single point advantage
going into the final frame, but two goals by the defending champions saw
Singapore out winners 8-5 at the Zayarthiri Swimming pool.
In men's Chinlone, Myanmar and Thailand booked places in the gold
medal match with score of 183 and 137 in the morning non-repetition
preliminaries.
Laos on 127 and Cambodia with 81 secured the bronze medals at Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium (B).
In women's non-repetition, Myanmar (148) will meet Thailand (109)
in the gold-medal match. Laos, on 109, took one bronze, Cambodia (49)
won the second one.
