“The SEA Games is coming. We haven’t even received our salary for the last two months. My students and I just need our salaries,” said an official from the swimming team.
But while unpaid salaries continue to be an issue, it has not stopped the National Olympic Council of Cambodia (NOCC) from increasing the number of delegates to the 27th SEA Games from Dec 11-22.
“With government support, we have increased the total number of delegates from 230 at the previous SEA Games (in Indonesia) to 264, with participation in 22 sports,” said NOCC general secretary Vath Chamroeun.
“We are targeting a minimum of 10 gold medals.”
